Motor Vehicle Theft

In 1999, a total of 14,633 motor vehicle thefts were reported by law enforcement agencies in Colorado.  This is a 6.7% decrease in motor vehicle thefts from 1998.  Motor vehicle thefts accounted for 32.0% of the major offenses reported.

Automobiles accounted for 8,706* or 72.8% of the vehicles stolen.

Trucks or buses accounted for 2,368* or 19.8% of the vehicles stolen.

Vehicles classified as other vehicle accounted for 884* or 7.4% of the vehicles stolen.

 

 

*Does not include breakdown by type of vehicle for Aurora P.D., Douglas County Sheriff, Greeley P.D., Johnstown P.D., Kersey P.D., Lone Tree P.D., Northglenn P.D., Weld County Sheriff, and Wheat Ridge P.D.
