Message from the CBI Director

September 22, 2000

Crime in Colorado is now on-line.  The information can be obtained by going to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) web site (cdpsweb.state.co.us/cbi/cic/introduction.htm).

This report contains only that crime data that is reported to the CBI.  For an accurate look at a crime trend in a specific jurisdiction, the appropriate law enforcement agency should be contacted.  However, we at the CBI believe the reported data still represents a comprehensive view of crime in Colorado.

It is important to remember the centerpiece for crime prevention relies upon the working partnership, between the criminal justice community of police, prosecutors, and courts, as well as Colorado's elected officials and citizens.

I personally want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies, which make this publication possible.  Also, a special thanks to the staff of these agencies and CBI who spent many hours preparing the data for publication.  If there are any questions, please call CBI at 303-239-4222.

Sincerely,

Robert C. Cantwell, Director
