Incident Based Reports

One Hundred Seventy-six (176) Colorado Law Enforcement agencies participate in Incident Based Reporting (IBR) as part of the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. Of the one hundred seventy-six (176) agencies, one hundred fifty-three (153) contributed data for the IBR statistics.

Incident Based reporting allows agencies to take advantage of computer technology and report detailed incident level data. This data includes detailed information regarding all separate and distinct offenses which occur within one incident, as well as detailed victim, offender, property, and arrest data.

For the purposes of these Incident Based Reports, Crimes Against Property are counted one for each distinct offense, and the number of victims are counted one for each victim of the crime.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is grateful to the many Colorado sheriffs and chiefs who have devoted considerable resources to Incident Based Reporting.
