Robbery

In 1998, a total of 3,187 robberies were reported by law enforcement agencies in Colorado.  This is a 6.4% decrease in robberies from 1997.   Robberies accounted for 6.2% of the major offenses reported.

A firearm was used in 997* or 37.7% of the robberies reported.  A knife or cutting instrument wa used in 234* or 8.8% of the reported robberies.  Other dangerous weapons not specifically coded or fitting one of the other categories were used in 357* or 13.5% of the robberies.  Strong-arm tactics were responsible for 1,060* or 40.0% of the robberies.
